Sequoia sempervirens

Photographic image of woodveneer (2 x) 150 x 100 cm

These two sheets have been cut from the bottom part of the sequoia tree. By cutting the wood with a wide, thin blade, it is possible to produce sheets with an average thickness of 1 mm. Because of this slicing technique, every sheet shows a slightly different part of the wood. By taking the first and the last sheet, growth becomes visible while comparing these two sheets.
